Independence

Lists are written and ranked by Alston Antony. Vendors do not see lists before publication and do not influence order or verdicts. Some links are affiliate links; that never changes where a tool appears. See the disclosure.

How rankings are decided

  • Every list states its selection criteria under "How we picked", and ranks tools against them.
  • Verdicts, pros and cons are the author's own judgement, written for each list. The same tool can read differently in different lists because the criteria differ.
  • Facts such as prices and limits come from the vendor's website and show a verified date and source links.

Hands-on testing

A "Hands-on tested by Alston" label appears on a tool only when the author used it, and the entry says what was done. If there is no label, the entry is based on the vendor's published information and the database. We never imply testing that did not happen.

Conflicts of interest

If the author or a business the author works with has a financial interest in a listed tool, the entry says so. Current disclosures:

  • The author is Senior Digital Marketing Manager at Brainstorm Force, which makes Astra, ZipWP and Schema Pro. Any Brainstorm Force product that is listed carries a disclosure on its entry. Schema Pro is currently in the database.
  • The author co-founded Maxinium, a SaaS SEO agency with his brother, and runs other sites of his own. If a listed tool is owned by, or paid for by a relationship with, any of them, the entry says so.

How the data is checked

  • Sources. Each fact is read from the tool's own website: its pricing page, features page, homepage and, where available, its about page. Other directories and listicles are only used to find tools, never as a source for a price or feature. Anything a vendor does not state is left empty, not guessed.
  • Verified means a record has at least one vendor source, a "facts verified" date, and every pricing fact points to the vendor page it came from. Records that fail are not published.
  • Starting price is the monthly-billing price of the cheapest paid plan, not the free plan and not an enterprise quote. If a vendor shows only annual billing, the per-month equivalent is stored and the billing note says so. When there is no published pricing, the entry says so and we do not estimate.
  • Price per 100 prompts for AI visibility tools is the entry-plan price divided by the entry-plan prompt limit, times 100, shown only when both numbers are published.
  • Accuracy. In the last audit, 39 randomly drawn records were re-checked against vendor pages. Of 606 fields, 571 were correct (94.2%), 8 were wrong and 27 could not be supported by the page. The errors clustered on price basis, and the corrections are already applied. 23 tools still have a price whose monthly or annual basis is unclear.
  • Known gaps. Some vendor sites block automated reading, company details such as founding year are often missing, and vendors change prices without notice. Each entry shows its own verified date, and records older than 90 days are flagged for re-checking.

Corrections

Errors are fixed when found and when reported, once the vendor's own site confirms the right answer. Report one through the contact page.

Updates

The "Updated" date on a list changes only when the content really changes. Each tool entry shows when its facts were last verified. The data section above describes how data is checked and audited.
